Last night’s meetings focused on how to answer Islam’s questions on
the Trinity. This was primarily a meeting for Pastors and was well attended by
mostly young Pastors from small churches. Suliman has put together a teaching
package on answering the major objections of Islam and how to help their
congregations share the Gospel. This is where my heart is regarding future
ministry. To equip Pastors is to equip congregations to fulfill the Great
Commission.
This morning we left at 7 for a two hour ride to Georgetown and hope
to distribute the Jesus DVD packets to 5,000 homes. We distributed about 4,000 DVD's to some nice homes and some poorer areas of town.
Along the way I saw a Kingdom Hall, Christadelphian Hall, a Later Day Saints (Mormon) church as well as Hindu temples and Mosques. Here are two encounters I had today.
1) I walked to one home and noticed their empty trash can, a plastic
blue 45 gallon barrel, and it had an
address on it which said from Brooklyn New York. I gave the father and his son
a packet with the Jesus DVD and tracts. As I was doing the neighbors house the
son called me back and said he could not watch the DVD because he was a Jehovah
Witness. So we had a short chat about the possibility of his beliefs being
wrong and his need to study the Bible to find the truth. By the way the
Watchtower publishing offices are in Brooklyn New York and I found the JW Hall just around
the corner from this house. Interesting!
2) I walked to another building with a sign “Guyana Business Prospects
Programs. There was a woman leaning on the gate who saw us coming and said,
“what kind of propaganda are you given out to corrupt our already depraved
minds, or are you selling something to kill pests?” By that time I arrived at
the gate and said, “here is something to kill your sin and show you the way to
eternal life” She looked at the Jesus DVD and said, “this stuff can never help
these people”. I said that along with prayer it could be of great help. She
kept the DVD.
It is now four o’clock and we are driving home, tired, thirsty, sweaty
and dirty but glad for a good day of distribution. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
