LEADING A GENERATION

MISSION TRIP TO PHILIPPINES: May has arrived and maybe even some warm weather. I will certainly encounter some warm weather as our Training Leaders International team make our way to Digos city on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines in just over 3 weeks. Airline tickets are booked and final study has begun. Please pray for the many aspects of this trip and the Pastors we will be teaching. Thank you. ron

I have been reading through Jeremiah and Ezekiel and have been impressed and encouraged by two men who by their example led their future generations to live in God's favor - Rechab and Zadok.
Rechab and his children are mentioned in Jeremiah 35 as an example to Israel of obedience to a father's call for his children and future generations to live in purity and separation from the world. The Rechabites were an example of generational obedience and this was recognized by God with the promise in verse 19, "therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Jonadab the son of Rechab shall never lack a man to stand before me." Not only is Rechab's leadership of his children commended but also the obedience of his children. Read and enjoy Jeremiah 35 this week.

Billy Graham and children
Zadok was a priest during the reign of David and Solomon. When Ezekiel describes the millennial Temple in chapters 40 to 48 he says that only the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi may come near to minister unto the Lord (40.46; 44.14). The reason God gives is that the sons of Zadok kept the charge of the sanctuary when the people of Israel and the other Levite priests went astray (44.10, 15; 48.11). The family of Zadok priests who followed in the steps of holiness of their father Zadok to faithfully serve God, were recognized and rewarded for their loyalty. God was their inheritance and they received a special portion of land near the Temple (44.28; 48.8-11). Read and enjoy Ezekiel 40 to 44.
Here are two beautiful pictures of both faithful fathers and faithful children who followed the instruction and example of their fathers and were recognized and rewarded by God for their family loyalty to God. May God empower us to be godly fathers and may our children be loyal to God as they follow our example.
